NOTE: The events on this calendar should be of interest
to sit-on-top paddlers. They will include sit-in-side kayaks as
well. Most of these events are "demo days" where you will
be able to try a variety of kayaks. Some of these events will have
an educational aspect. If you know of an event that is noteworthy
to sit-on-top paddlers let us know. If you are a shop or school
currently providing sit-on-top kayak instruction, let us know.CALL

Saturday September 11th, 2010 - California
Annual Ken Harmount Pier to Pier Paddle
A Benefit Paddle for the Junior lifeguard Program. Location: Meet at Old Port Beach, Avila California. Time: Registration starts at 6:45am. Paddlers meeting at 7:45 am. On Water 8am. Distance: Avila Pier to the South Side of Pismo Pier 6.5 miles. Cost:
$5 for Junior lifeguards
$25 for Surfrider Members
$30 Non-members
$35 day of registration
Includes water and a race gift. Contact Central Coast Kayaks at 805-773-3500 for questions or to pre-register. Please let us know if you or your gear will need a shuttle back to Old Port Beach after the event. All money raised will go to the Junior Lifeguard program for scholarships. - Ken Harmount was a Morro Bay lifeguard until a snowboading accident changed his life. His friends got together and paddled from Pier to Pier and raised money to help Ken pay for his hospital bills. Ken donated the money to help start the San Luis Bay chapter of the Surfrider Foundation. Ken now lives in the Bay area as a partial quadriplegic and still has a passion for the ocean.

2010 SC Beach Sweep/River Sweep - On Saturday September 18th. the SC
Beach Sweep/River Sweep in Berkeley County, SC will be held from 9:00
am until noon.We are looking for paddlers or paddle groups who would
like to assist us with cleanups on some of our islands located on Lakes
Marion & Moultrie. Free camping will be provided at Camp Moultrie
located on Lake Moultrie Friday and Saturday night. This includes hot
showers & restrooms plus lunch & dinner on Saturday. You will
also have a great opportunity to explore some of Berkeley Blueways Trails

with local paddlers.
